RICH HERITAGE.
A SCOTTISH ESTATE. | .CLAIMANTS IN DUNEDIN. [THE PBEBS Special Service,} DUNEDIN, January 7. A Marquisate, a castle, and two mansions, a brewery, a distillery, and £1,000,000 are the heritage which await the family of Scott, in Scotland, two members of which, Adam Fairholm Gibson Scott and Neil Fairholm Scott, are at present resident in Dunedin. The former is employed as a storeman in the premises of W. D. and H. 0. Wills, and the latter is a tram conductor. For some time the great wealth and property described above have been lying iale awaiting owners, and it is only recently that the grandmother and mother of the two men mentioned have lodged their claims to the estate, claims wHicli, in the opinion of competent advisers in the Old Country, are the best that can be put forward; The two brothers at present in Dunedin have been informed through the post of the progress of negotiations, and are daily expecting a summons to go back "home and "claim their legacy. The family is descended from the Stuarts, and their genealogical tree can be traced with little-' difficulty back to'the Royal blood of the Duke of Argyll. The grandmother , is-apparently the heir to all, save the title, which, should the claim be upheld bv the Courts, will go to one of the brothers: The eldest ■ daughter 'of Mrs Fairholm Scott, who is aged 85 years, has four children, three sons and one daughter, and of these the two sons already mentioned are in Dunedin, Adam having- arrived in 1922 and Neil twelve months ago.
