A RETURN season. At the Theatre Royal commencing on Saturday nest, J. C. Williamson, Ltd. present their first big dramatic attraction of 192", the return of Maurice Moscovitch and company for a season of ten nighta, presenting four plays. The opening production is a powerful Frederick Lonsdale drama, "The Fake." The play has had wonderfully suecessful runs in London and bydney and again last week in Wellington, &nd the Press and public were unanimous in their appreciation of the drama and the player 9. One critic says: "Quick action, remarkable characterisation, a -mighty role for Maurico Mos« covitch. and all the essentials of dramatic forcefulnesa are concentrated'in 'The lake.' Frederick Lonsdale, .author of "The lake, is the dramatist of the hour in London. The second production for four nights omy is'Du Maurier's celebrated romance of the Latin quarter of Paris, "Trilby,' with Moscovitch as Svengali, a role he has made famous in four Continents. The present Moscovitch offering of 'Trilby' is claimed ; :to be a brilliant representation of Du Maur- i ier's romance of "Trilby" oi -he big voice, who couldn't sing but waa hypnotised to make great audiences tlehrious with joy, of Svengali lhat stranger from out of the East; o- Little Billee, who drew Trilby's feet; of big Taffy and the Laird, gay Lou Lou ana the guscttcs of the studios. _ A welccjmo revival for one night only will be The Outsider," a play made famous by Maurice Moscovitch on his first tour. The last two nights of the season will see the first staging here of Sidney Howard's terrific dramatic sensation, "They Knew What Ahyy Wanted." It contains a startling story with something to discuss, comethiug that thrills and holds ono gripped tense with surging emotions. The company supporting includes George Lucco, Alex Sarner, Ellen Pollock, Margaret Murray tall newcomers who were associated with Moscovitch jn his London and South African tours), ijilccn Sparks and Nat Madison, are still with the company, and other prominent peoplo in a big cast are George Blunt, Reginald Newson, J. B. Atholwood, John Harper, Leslie Donaghey, Kiore King, and Kerrie Kelly. The box plans for the season open on Wednesday next at The Bristol.
