On November 13th, tho second dinner in Edinburgh this year of New Zealanders, organised by the medical men at the University, took place. It may bo recalled that this function 16 a bi-annual one, and is always looked forward to with the greatest interest. On this occasion Dr. T. Derrick ; (Thames) was in the chair, and those] present were:—Dr. J. M. Murray, Dr. | Gerald Leighton, and- Dr. J. Sinipsou J (all of whom are more or less penna-, nently in Edinburgh); Mr A. C. Ait-f ken, Drs. R. J. Maunsell, W. K. Ham-! ilton, and V. M. Johns (the three last- J named are studying for the Fellow-i ships); Drs. J. M. Bassett and J. P. Dunlop (who are at present working in J Edinburgh); and the following stud-1 ents:—Messrs lan B. Ewart and Ali&- i ter L. Young (in their final year), E. | G. Gibbs and L. It. Hetherington (in | their fourth year), and J. K. Elliott, j D. C. L. Clay, J. C. Hislop, and A. E. j Parkes (who have arrived in Edin- j burgh this year). Among the speakers were Dr. Derrick, Dr. Maunsell, Dr. Johns, Dr. Leighton, and Mr J. C. Hislop. All the usual toasts were honoured There were, unfortunately, a few other New Zealanders who were not able to be present. Mooting with Mr Coates. On November 24th most of the New Zealand medical men in Edinburgh were present at the University Capping Ceremony of the lit. Hon. J. G. Coates. Subsequently they met the Prime Minister, who had with each of them a personal chat. Mr F. D. Thomson and Mr H. T. B. Drew were at the University Union with Mr Coates.
