SHIPPING NOTES. The steam yacht Surprise sailed yesterday morning for Akaroa. She will remain at the Peninsula port for about ten woeks. Under the recent agreement between the employers and the Lyttelton waterside workers, overtime is to be worked each Saturday when required, from 1 p.m. till 5 p.m., commencing this afternoon. The Totara is due to-day from Wellington, and loads for Wellington and New Plymouth. The Kurow is expected this morning from the south. She loads for Auckland, and sails via Wellington. The Progress is due at Lyttelton on Tuesday to load for Wellington, New Plymouth, and Waikato.

The Kamo should be here from Timaru to-morrow. On Monday she loads for Napier and Gisborne, and is to sail via Wellington. The Wairau loads at Lyttelton on Monday for Blenheim direct. She takes cargo for Havelock, Seddon, and Ward. The Opihi is due on the 18th from Timaru to load for Nelson and New Plymouth.

The Kahika is expected here on Saturday next from Dunedin and Timaru. She is to sail the same day with cargo for Napier and Gisborne, via Wellington. The Waipiata is due on Saturday next from the south. She loads for Auckland and sails via Wellington. The Storm, due to-morrow from Timaru, is to be dispatched on Monday afternoon for Wellington and Wanganui. The Breeze is expected back from the north on Wednesday, when she will take in cargo for Dunedin and Timaru. Cable advice received by the Union Company states that the Maheno left Melbourne at 11 a.m. on Wednesday for Wellington direct. She is due there on Monday morning, and will sail again the following afternoon for Melbourne, via Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff.

The Union Company's chartered steamer Sussex is due at Auckland to-day from Calcutta, via Penang, Singapore, and _ Samarang. After part discharge, she will unload the remainder at Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin, and i 6 due at this port about January 18tb. Company slating that the vessel was experiencing light easterly winds, and that she would probably arrive in Wellington on Sunday evening. The Shaw, SaviH Company advises that their next passenger steamer to be dispatched from Home is the Tamaroa, sailing on January 28th for Auckland and Wellington. Sho is due at Auckland on March sth. The Port Bowen, from Auckland, arrived at Wellington on Thursday afternoon to continue unloading Liverpool cargo. She will later proceed to Lyttelton aud Dunedin to complete discharge. In continuation of her voyage from lsew York, the Trcvorian left Napier on Wednesday evening for Wellington,' where she arrived on Thursday afternoon. Sho will sail again on Tuesday for Lyttelton and Dunedin to completo discharge of her cargo. Advice has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Olarama, en route from St. John to New Zealand, arrived at Newport News on Tuesday last. She is duo at Auckland on February 14th. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Rotorua was to leave Wellington yesterday afternoon for Bluff to complete discharge of her Homo cargo, and commence loading. She will complete at Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington, and is to leave Wellington finally on January 20th for Southampton and London, via Panama and Curacao.
