CASE REOPENED.
* BURGLARY AND THEFT CHARGES [THE PEESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND. January 7. "1 would like to remind your "Worship of the fact that this case was brought here yesterday and was dismissed," said William Hoggard, aged 59, when charged in tho Police Court to-day with breaking and entering the shop of William Huston, 65 Parnell road, and stealing a cigarette caso, three pipes, tobacco pouch, and razor, valued at £3 6s 6d, also with stealing the goods, and alternatively with receiving the goods from some person unknown, knowing them to have been dishonestly obtained. When accused was charged yesterday with breaking and entering, the caso was dismissed by Messrs A. J. Stratford and D. Donaldson, J.P.'s, on the ground that there was insufficient evidence to connect accused with the crime.
The Magistrate, Mr F. Iv. Hunt, remarked that there was nothing to prevent the police from bringing the charge again. They might have more evidence. Accused was remanded until Monday.
