GLOOMY PROPHECY.
EARTHQUAKES PREDICTED. (BT CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (ADSTRALUH AXD *.Z. CAB&I ASSOCIATION.) ROME, January 6. Professor Bendandi, the noted siesmologist, prophesies that the present year will be noted for great earth paroxysms, which will scatter death and destruction in the most distant parts of the world. Abbut January there will be a series of violent earthquakes ,- n Europe, Asia, and Polynesia. In February the seismic fever will be more intense, and it will seem as if the sarth is trembling. Central America will be violently shaken, and with the advance of spring shocks will be felt in Europe. _ There will be violent earth commotions and volcanic eruptions in the summer in Japan.
