A treasure trove inquest in ancient form was opened by the Coroner at Rotherhithe to decide the ownership of 40 half-sovereigns, 6is sovereigns, and some gold trinkets found in excavations on a property in Bermondsey. The jury found that it was genuine treasure trovo, and tho Coroner ordered that it should go to the Treasury, explaining that the State was always liberal to the finders.
