PORT OF AUCKLAND. [THE PRESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, January 6. Another annual record has been established by the port of Auckland in the matter of shipping tonnage. Outward and inward tonnage taken together are 285,087 tons gross, and 170.871 tons net, above the figures for 1025. This is after deducting the tonnage of the American Fleet (:I00,000) from tho 1925 total. The 1925 figures were ahead of those for 1924—a150 a record —by 508,930 tons gross, and 478,21)8 tons net. Coastal shipping, however, shows a decline, as it did at tho end of 1925. This is admittedly due to increased railway facilities in North Auckland and to road competition. The decreased coastal trade accounts for the smaller number of vessels entering and leaving the port.
