RITCHIE V. BUUNAND. At English Park Stadium on Saturday night, the Mairchau Sports Club will stage, a. eports programnio of nioro thai) usual merit. Tho most interesting event on tlto [ programme consists of a three distance motorpaced raco botweon Ucctor Hurnaiid and Alec Hitcliie. The raco will ho decided over throo distances of two miles each, the riders and their pilots' starting side by side. Late last season Ritchie, then a novico at following the rollers, met and defeated Jimmy Boer, tho prominent Australian pace follower and "Jumbo" Wells, who ha 3 raced with succesß in Australia and on tho Continent Hector Burnand is a prominent racing cyclist and has had considerable experience behind tho motnr-cycles in Australia. Both riders havo engaged in strenuous training. Sports meetings held during the recent holidays bave brought out several prominent rider 3, amongst them being J. Bearman, who won tho one and two miles South Island championships from etrong fields: Bearman on his present form will make a hold bid for the' title of quarter-milo New Zealand champion, which is at present held by F. J. Carey. Others who will fight out the championsiiin are Clarrio Bright, Phil O'Shea, C. Austin, J. McGur, C. L. Parker, C. J. Sowden, A. C. Ritchie, and H. Burnand. The programme, consisting of thirty-five events, will start at 8 o'clock.
