AMUSEMENTS.

GRAND THEATRE. Those v,!\o are fond of mystery, ghostly appearances, and general uncannicess arc finding their tastes welt catered lor this week at the Grand Theatre, where a film version of the well-known stage-play, "Tho Bat," is being screened. The screen has a strong advantage over the stage in stories of this nature on account of the many devices that can be brought into play—devices which on the stage would be impracticable. The picture is a long series of thrills, and is well out of the general run of photo-plays. It holds the attention of the audience from start to finish, but there are also many light touches which relieve it from any suggestion of dramatic heaviness. Louise Fazenda is leading lady. Supporting films are excellent.
