SHIPPING NOTES. The Progress should arrive this morning from Wellington to take in cargo for Dunedin and Timaru. The Holmdale arrives at Ijyttelton this morning from Timaru, and loads for Wellington and Wanganui. Tho Breeze is expected from Timaru this morning. She is to be dispatched this afternoon with cargo for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Cygnet is timed fo sail this evening for Kaikoura and Wellington. ( The Totara should be here to-morrow from Wellington to load for New Plymouth. She sails via Wellington. The Kurow, from Dunedin, is now due on Saturday instead of to-morrow. She load 3 for Auckland. The Kamo sailed yesterday for the south, and is expected back on Sunday, On Monday sho will load for Napier and Gisborne. Tho Gale, due to-morrow from the north, is to be dispatched in the afternoon with cargo for Dunedin and Timaru. The Storm should be here on Saturday from Timaru, when she will load for Wellington and Wanganui. The New Zealand Shipping Company's Remuera is due at Wellington on Saturday j to disembark North Island passengers, and i leaves on Sunday for Lyttelton to disem- I bark the remainder of her passengers, and | to commence discharging. Captain J. E. Walker, late master of the Kowiiai, lias left the vessel and joined the Melbourne pilot service. Captain E. J. C. Gibson has taken his place on the Kowhai. Captain J. Bruce is now in command of (he Koiranga. His officers are: Chief. Mr \V. Henderson; second, Mr T. A. Mack; third, Mr A. J. McKcnzie. Captain W. W. Header has taken charge of the Waitomata. Mr E. H. Wilson is chief officer, Mr J. W, Thompson second, and Mr S. B. Ward third. Captain E. J. McClellan has been appointed to the Kaimai, and has with him the following officers:—Chief, Mr W. E. Jones; second, Mr C. T. Robb; third. Mr T. Stevenson. Captain J. Mawson is taking command of the K.M.S. Makura, relieving Captain A. H. Davey for orders. Mr J. A. Pearson has joined the Ngatoro as chief officer, relieving Mr R. Lloyd for holidays. Mr T. Dec has joined the Kaiwarra as second officer, relieving Mr A. B. Fraser | for holidays. Mr A. 11. Howie lias boen appointed chief officer of the Karctu, relieving Mr J. E. Warwick for holidays. Mr C. G. Eustace, third officer of the R.M.M.S. Aorangi, has resigned in order to proroed to England. Mr K. A. Cox is rejoining the Katoa as chief officer, relieving Mr N. B. W. Has2ard for orders. Mr A. B. Pert is heing appointed to the Wainui as second officer, vice Mr T. Y. Marshall, who is ashore on leave. Mr K. E. Suckling has relieved Mr S. W Hodson as second officer of the Karetu ' The Atheuic is to leave Lyttelton to-dav ! for Napier, to finish discharge of London \ cargo and to begin loading. She returns to Lyttelton to continue loading, and will complete at Wellington, when she sails on January 28th for Southampton and London via Panama. '

NOTES. The Miro, an auxiliary ketch which has been loading flour for Taurnnga, sailed from Lyttelton yesterday morning. The Karetu arrived from Lyttelton yesterday to .discharge Australian coal and general cargo. She loaded return cargo and sailed direct for Sydney last night. The Holmdale arrived from Oamaru yesterday to load for Wellington and Wanganui. She left last evening for Lyttelton. Tho Progress is duo to-morrow from Oamaru, to load for Wellington, New Plymouth, and Waikato Heads. The Breeze is set down to arrive today from Oamaru, to load for Wellington and Wanganui. Scheduled to arrive to-morrow from the south, the Kamo is to load for Wellington, Napier, and Gisborne. The Union Co. advise that the Poolta is "due here on January 16th, with coal and timber for discharge.
