SELWYN HUTS.
The annual gala was held at the.Selwjm Huts oh Saturday (New Year's Day). The weather was ideal .and there was an 'attendance of well over 1000 people. Thiß was the first venture o£ the Gala Committee to run the cycling and running events under the rules-of. the Canterbury Centre of the New ■ Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, and in the principal events, good entries were received, and interesting racing resulted.. A programme of 6ports was. run off for the s children- during the day. Motor-boat facing was' very interesting. The arrangements were, carried out .by 'Messrs B. G. Hill and A. Mcßean, who also', had the co-operation, of an energetic committee, with Mr P. J. do la Cour as president. The following are the results:— • , AQUATIC EVENTS. 440 yds Handicap Men's Single Sculls—R.
