SHIPPING NOTES.
The Cygnet is to bo dispatched, to-night with cargo for Kaikoura only. Returning tomorrow night she loads on Thursday for Kaikoura and Wellington. I The Kamo is due to-day from Wellington, and after landing Auckland cargo sails for the south. Due back on Saturday, she loads for Napier and Gisborne. The Karetu is to sail to-day lor Timaru to complete loading for Sydney. . The Kurow is timed to load here on inday for Auckland. , . The Maheno is expected here on the l<iin from Melbourne, via Wellington. She is to sail the same day for Melbourne, via Dunedin and Bluff. . The Storm is to be dispatched to-day lor Bluff and Dunedin. The Progress, due to-morrow from Wellington, sails in' the afternoon with cargo for Dunedin and Timaru. The Holmdale loads nt Lyttelton on Thursday for Wellington and Wanganui. The Breezo loads here on Thursday for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The 0. and D. Line advises that the Port Bowen was to leave Auckland yesterday for Wellington to continue discharge of her Liverpool cargo. Sho is due at Wellington tomorrow. . ~ . ± , , The Gallic is to leave Wanganui.to-day to complete loading at Napier, Waikokopu, <hsbornc, and Wellington. She is due at Wellington on January 16th, and sails finally on January 20th for London, via Cape The Shaw, Savill Company advises that the lonic was expected to leave Southampton on Friday last with passengers and cargo for Auckland and Wellington. She is due at Auckland on February 7th, aud at Wellington about a week later. Information received by the union Company states that the Sussex, from Calcutta, via "ports, passed Good Island at 6.30 p.m. on Tuesday last. She is due at Auckland on Saturday - next, and after discharging part of her cargo, will proceed to Wellington, Lvttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, and Bluff. 'The Canadian Spinner is due at Wellington from Dunedin on Friday nert to load for New York, Boston, and Halifax, and will later proceed on to Auckland to complete. Bhe is to sail finally from there on January 13th. The Marine Department has been advised by wireless message from Captain Whiteford, the Government representative with the Antarctic whaling expedition, that the mother ship, Sir James Clarke Ross, and 0. A. Larsen, spent Christmas Day in latitude 72.34 and longitude 173.0. The message added that everything was quite well with the vessels. The Government steamer Tutanekai returned to Wellington on Thursday from her southern lighthouse cruise. On this occasion tho vessel paid a visit to the Campbell Islands, where she landed stores for the lessees of the island engaged in the sheep-raising industry. The Tutanekai had a fair-weather trip, and Captain Bollons reported that all were well at the various lighthouses visited.

The Waihemo left Newcastle on December 25th for Vancouver direct. Loads at Pacific Coast ports late in January and early in February for Papeete, Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and New Plymouth. The Waitemata leaves Westport about January 11th for Vancouver direct. Loads for Pacific Coast ports during February for Apia, Auckland, Melbourne, and Sydney. The Wairuna left Auckland yesterday for Napier, Melbourne, and Sydney. The forward sailing dates at Pacific Coast ports are approximately as follows: Tho Wairuna loads at Pacific Coast ports during March for probably Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne,. and Sydney.
