HASTINGS, May 12, At a meeting o£ tha Hastings Rugby SubUnion a letter was received from the Pirates, of Napier, protesting against the action of the referee in Saturday's match, Pirates v. Hastings, in allowing two minutes' extra play. Mr Maddison, the referee, stated that Pirates deliberately wasted time and he was justified. Ho quoted the rules that a referee has power to award cstra time for delays during a match, but the word "delavs" was not defined.

It was decided to refer the protest to the New Zealand Appeal Council.'

MONICA PARK.

OFFER TO CANTERBURY LEAGUE

An offer has been mado by the Board of Control of Monica Park to hand over the ground to the Canterbury Eugby League, provided the latter will take over the liabilities connected with' it. Should the League* favour the proposal, the Board will relinquish all obligations and surrender its control. It is anticipated that a decision will fee reached at an early date.
