DUMPING DUTY.
CANADA'S POSITION STATED,
(at cable— press association'— copv3ight.) (reutes's telegrams.) (Received May 12th, 5.5 p.m.) OTTAWA, May 11. "Australian butter shipped to Canada during 192G, under the export bonus of threepence a pound, is subject to a dumping duty of six cents," said the Customs Minister, Mr Boivin, in Parliament to-day. "Australian canned fruit subsidised for export is also subject to dumping duty," he said, "nnd Customs collectors and appraisers have been instructed to accept consignments subject to amendment, and to forward the invoices to Ottawa for investigation. The amount of the dumping duty on canned fruit is not yet fixed." After explaining; the Patterson scheme, which is effective in Australia, the Minister said that al] butter exported during the new year was subjected to the flumping duty provided the amount did not exceed fifteen per cent. r»f the home consumption value.
