SPORTS AT SELWYN HUTS.
The annual sports meeting was held at the Selywn Huts on Easter Satnrday and Monday. The weather conditions were ideal on both days. ' It was the taost successful meeting ever held. There was a large crowd of spectators, and good entries were received in all events. The promptitude with which the events were run off left no time for interest to wane.'- An old man's novice tennis tournament was held, and this created a lot of merriment. This is termed the "Sclwyn Huts Heavy-weight Championship," and a cup has been presented by Mr W. Billens, and is to bo known as the "Billens Cup." The winner: holds the cup for one year, and his name is engraved on it. Last year's winner was Mr 11. Thomson, and he was presented with the handsome cup some little, while back. This year's winners proved to be • Messrs Billens and Keetley . (doubles). The results of the sports were:— Aquatic Events—Heaviest basket of fish: H. Webb 1, W. Harris 2, T. V. Whitmore 3. Ladies' bait casting: Mrs> T. V. Whitmore (101 ft) 1, Mrs W. Spedding (06ft 9in) ,2, Miss Devereaux (85ft) 3. Twelve.competitors. Men's bait casting, 150 ft: W. Billens (118 ft) 1, P. King .(115ft) 2, H. Dalley (113 ft) 3. Sixteen competitors. Men's fly casting, 25ft: W. Billens (19ft 2in) 1, R. Scott, jun. (18ft) 2, P. King (15ft) 3. Heslop's Bobs 1, V. Smith's Betty 2, W. Harris's Kiwi 3.- Speed motor-boat race, four miles: H. Collins's Renown 1, W.. Berry's Meteor 2, Smart and Schaffer's Pirate 3. „ Land Events—Young men's race, 100 yds: P, Andrews 1, A. M. • Spooner 2, P. Lovett 3. Young ladies'. race, 50yds: Miss M.
