NEW ZEALAND APPLES.
LONDON MARKET.
(pbom oca own correspondent.) LONDON, July 23
Owing probably to the hot weather and the plentiful supply of soft fruits, Xew Zealand apples are coming on to a rather slow market. Both the Argyllshire and tho Athenie shipments have not been quite up to the mark in prices, 17s being about the highest for all varieties, and 12s being paid for wasty cases. As a matter of fact, both these consignments hare had a proportion, of wasty apples. especially among the Delicious, a variety which it would seem should have been finished with before now. Those Delicious that are aound are very good, however, and much sought after. Sturmers constitute the bulk of the shipments, and are sound and good, though it is saia that they are slightly more woody in taste than usual. - Dougherties and Delicious are taken to balance the green apples bought. Itis, perhaps, a thing to be remembered that fruiterers, when buying;, like to have a quantity of both green and red apples to suit the tastes of customers. .Some poople will buj' red apples even though the green are much superior in flavour. The Raranga has arrived in the Thames, hut the apples have not been brought up yet. This is the last shipihent this season.
