jilr Thomas Ronayne Killed. Mr Thomas Ronayno, formerly General Manager of the New Zealand Railways, was killed yesterday in an accident at. Seddonville. Mr McLeod Campaigning. The Hon. Mr McLeod, Minister of Lands, spoke at Wanganui last night, chieflv on the inconsistencies of'the so-called Nationalists, who counselled economy and clamoured for expenditure. Iran-Shooting. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals decided posterday to take no action to support the Bill now before Parliament, to make illegal the shooting of captive birds. Sporting. Tho annual meeting of the Canter- i bnry Chamber of Cor :.-> was held yesterday. BRITISH AND FOREIGN. Seamen's Strike. Thcro are indications that the Australian Unions will not favour a general strike as a protest against deportations. South African producers have offered to work the ships held up there. Prosecutions of striking seamen are pending in Australia and New Zealand. Moroccan War. Abdcl Krim has offered to diseuss peace terms. Trade Union Congress. Great interest is being evinced in the Trade Union Congress in England.
