ASHBURTON. GENERAL NEWS. There was ft largo attendance at the fortnightly euchre tournament and dance conducted by the Ilakatcre Lodge in the Tancrrd street Hall on Saturday. Mrs A. Ashburton was thrown into almost complete darkness for about ten minutes prior to -S o'clock, while some of the country people were deprived of light tor about half an hour on Friday night. The cause of the interruption was a break in the transmission line from Lake Coleridge. The load was transferred io another line. The Ashburton Motor-Cycle Club held its opening run for the season to Hakatero over the week-end. when twelve members made the trip under good weather conditions.
