The launching of the combined Franco-Spanish offensive y Morocco oil an important scale from Hand, sea and air is exoected within 48 hours. A message from Tangier says that, the bombardment of the coast, south and east of Alhucemas. has already bej*un. and troops are Landing. It is expected that the attack will be delivered in the neighbourhood of the Franco-Spanish border, northward of Wezzan. Cabinet has approved M. Painleves plans for the united command of military operations in Morocco under Marshal Petain, while Marshal Lvautey, acting in doso concert with Marshal Petain, will exercise political action. RIFFIS' OBJECTIVE. COMPLETE INDEPENDENCE. ALTERATION IN BOUNDARIES. (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received September 4th, 8.25 p.m.) LONDON, September 3. The Paris correspondent of the ''Morning Post" states that the special correspondent to "I>e Matin ' penetrated to the headquarters of Abdel Ivrim, where he interviewed Sje Mohamed, brother of Abdel Krim. Asked what the Riffis wanted, Mahomed said : "Full and complete independence. We will not talk peace until our independence is recognised. Wa want to live free to govern ourselves. We will fight to the last man. We know France and Spain have powerful ments, T)ut God will help us. "Secondly, we lia,ve no desire for foreign police. We wf&nt France to withdraw a little to the south in. order that our frontier line may run from Guezanis to Louloya. AVe want Spain, to reduce the territory occupied around Mellilla. AVe are not receiving help from any foreign Power or political party."
