An official statement from the Seamen s Union headquarters reports that no liner failed to depart punctually to-day, including the Berrima for Sydney. Attention is at present focused on Liverpool. It has been discovered that many-extremists are signing on there, intending to withdraw at the last moment and prevent sailing, but the ship owners are aware of the ruse and now have emergencies standing by to defeat the trick. A thousand strikers applied for the dole at Liverpool, but were told they had refused work for which they were suited and were therefore ineligible for *the dole for sis weeks. The Australian trader, Port Napier, obtained a full crew. The Royal Mail steamer Glamorganshire has sailed. The crews of the cross-channel steamers reported for dutv to-night. AUCKLAND, September 4. The position regarding the strike of seamen on British ships is unchanged. The crows of the Mataikana and Penmorvah have not given any sign of going on strike. The Matakana expects to complete discharge of her Auckland cargo from Liverpool and Glasgow by the end of the week, and is scheduled to leave for Wellington on Monday morning. She has 2700 tons of cargo for Wellington. 1400 tons for Lyttelton, and 1300 tons for Dunedin. The Penmorvah will probably leave for Sydney to-morrow. The Zinal, whose crew are on Btrike, will be docked for inspection this afternoon. . The AVonganella, wESch was unable to berth at New Plymouth owing to the wharf being occupied by the Port Dunedin and Dorset, arrived this morning to discharge 5500 tons of phosphates from K auru Island. Jhe crew are on Australian articles. The Waimana, after being delayed at Gisborne, arrived at Auckland early last evening to complete her loading. It is hoped to dispatch her for New York on Sunday. WILLASTON AT BLUFF. KEEPING UP STEAM. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) INVERCARGILL, September 4.
