Until recently, at most or all of the banks a customer requiring a chequebook had merely to fill in an order form, sign a book, and get what he wanted. Now, however, the order form must be initialled by a ledger-clerk. It is understood that: the reason for this new precaution—the absence of which has surprised many—is that some of the banks have found that chequebooks have been obtained by people who had no right to havo thenu"
