BOXING.

CHRISTCHURCH AMATEUR CLUB A meeting of the committee of the Christchurch Amateur Boxing Club was held last evening. Present: Mepsrs J. 7. Wilson (in the chair), J. D. Baybutt (honorary secretary), C. H. Taylor, W. G. Atack, A. ft. Kirk, G. S. Biltcliff, and T. K. Robson. Correspondence was received from the Minister of Internal Affairs in reply to • letter asking for registration of the club. The Minister stated that the request was GtiU under consideration. (

The * chairman said that until m definite reply was received from tbe Department it would be well to defer actios id connexion with the holding: of a competition. The general opinion was in favour of pro* ceeding with arrangements, but ultimately it was resolved to wait for the decision of the Department. The Canterbury Amateur Athletic ®®b wrote inviting the clijb to he represented at the annual soelal and presentation of prizes. Messrs Wilson and Barbatt were appointed to represent the club. CorTMpondence was received from Dunedin expressing hearty sympathy in the movement to form a separate body for the control of amateur boxing, and promising support. It was stated that three clnbs in Dunedin would join in any movement that was taken in the direction of forming an am»teur organisation, and it was asked tb*t those interested should be kept informed as to the steps that were being taken to secure the object aimed at. Reports were received outlining the progress that had been made with respect to the formation of clabs in various parts of the Dominion. The question of esliing a conference at Wellington for the purpose of forming a New Zealand Amateur Roving Association was held over pending receipt of further information from several centres in the North Island. The honorary secretary and Mr Robson were deputed to ascertain the cogt Of a complete ring equipment and report io the next meeting. ■ - .
