NURSES' HOME.

SEEKING A SITE. DOMAINS BOARD APPROACHED. Ha question of a site for the proposed Nurses' Home for the Christchurch Hospital was again discussed at yesterday's meeting of the Christchurch Domains Board. The subject was introduced by a letter from the North Canterbury Hospital Board, asking the Domains Board if it would receive a deputation relating to the matter from the first-nameS body. This letter was deferred for consideration until yesterday's meeting, and the chairman of the Board, Mr G. Harper, in referring to it, recalled the fact that the BoaTd had previously been approached by the Hospital authorities, asking their consent to the transfer of & of land fronting Riccarton road and at present occupied by the Acclimatisation Society. Mr Harper suggested that a Special Committee should be set up to confer with tho Hospital Board, and ascertain from them exactly what was wanted, and what the Hospital authorities intended to do for the Domains Board in return. He would recommend that such a course be adopted. Dr. C. Chilton njoved that the chairman's recommendation be given effect to and that a Select Committee be set up to confer with the Hospital Board, and present a report on the matter io the next meeting of the Domains Board. Mr C. W■ Hervey said it was a doubtful point if the Domains Board could sanction the transference of the proposed site, without the consent of tho Acclimatisation Sociotv. The Society had been approached hy the Board ana asked to put a price on the section. The Mavor, Mr J. K. Archer, urged that the matter be dealt with expeditiously, so that the transference eouTH be given effect to in the Washing-Up Bill at the conclusion of the present session of Parliament. It would b© a pity if the whole thing had to be held over until next session of the House. Tho motion was carried and the chairman, Dr. C. Chilton, Messrs H. J. Beswick, J. A. Fleshet, and A. Freeman were appointed the Select Committee.
