EXPERIMENTS IN NEW ZEALAND NEXT YEAR. i • (press association telegram.) WELLINGTON, September 4. Speaking in the House last night, when the Defence Estimates were under discussion, the Minister for Defence said that next year the Government would probably asl for a vote to enable them to pjake extensive experiments into the manufacture and use of gas for military purposes. The Naval Defence vote of £444,215 was challenged bv the Labour Party. Mr Fraser moved to reduce it by £200,000. This/ amendment was defeated by 34 votes to 13 and the vote was passed.
