Whist drives will be hold to-night and Tuesaay next in the card room at tme Caledonian H»U. Special euchre parties will bo held tonight at the Sydenham Football Hall and on Wednesday next at the Caledonian Hall. Dances will bo held to-night and Tuesday next at the Caledonian HalL. On nest a waltz and foes-trot competition will be held. Mr L M. Isitt, M.P., will preach on "The Decease of tie Bible in School Bill and ihe emptying of the Churches" at DurHam street Methodist Chuxfth to-morrow morning. Communion will be celebrated at the evening service. The Bailway Department advertises train arrangements for the trotting races at Timaru on September 12th. A special train will leave Christchurch at 7.55 a.m. and run direct to the course, returning from. Timaru in the evening. Tickets at cheap fans are being issued. A meeting of the Home Economies Association will be held in the Y.M.C.A. on Friday September 11th, at 7.30 p.m. ' The annual meeting of the New Brighton Cricket Club will be held in the Bereafard Club room on Tuesday, at 8 p.m. The usual- soldiers'- Saturday dance willbe held in the Jellicoe Hall to-night The vmual meeting of the Broadfield Shearing Shed Co., Ltd., will be held in the Broadfield Schoolroom on Saturdav.
