Milne will succeed the Earl of CavSn as Chief of the Imperial General Staff. [General Sir George Francis \'iine, K.C.8., G.C.M.G., D.8.0., was A.D.C. to the King in 1023, and sinco that year has been Commander-in-Chief of the Eastern Command. He was born in 1866, and entered the Army in 1S8;">. At the beginning of the Great War he held the rank of Brigadier-General, Commanding tho 4tli Divisional Artillery and later rose in successive steps to the rank of General. Ho served in tho Sudan and South African wars, and throughout the period of the Great War. The Earl of Cavan, G.C.M.G., G.C.Y.0., was born in 1865, and has been Chief of the Imperial General Stall since 1922. He was A.D.C. to the Governor-General of Canada and served in tho South African Wnr. and throughout the period of tho Great War. He commanded tho 14th Corps of the British Expeditionary Force, and was in charge of the Tenth Italian Army in 1!»18. In 1920-22 ho was A.D.C. to the King, and Commander-in-Chief at Aldcrshot. He was head of the War Office section of the British delegation at the Washington Conference in 1921.]
