BAND CONTEST.
DUNEDIN EXHIBITION SCHEME. (srZCIAL TO "the rREss.") . DUNEDIN, July 4. At a meeting of the Exhibition Band Contest Committee, the syllabus for tho coming contest and tho prize money wc.ro arranged, subject to the approval of tho South Island Bands Association. It was decided to hold A, B and C Grade Contests, an A Grade Quickstep Competition, B Grado Quickstep Competition, and an Own Choice Contest, open to A and B Grado Bauds. The contest will ba held at the Exhibition from February 20th to 27th inchisivG. It is anticipated that this will prove to be one of the most important contests yet held in New Zealand. Already enquiries havo been received from several Australian bauds, and it is anticipated that a largo entry frill be received froip New Zealand bands. The solo contests will all be test selections. The music has been ordered and will be distributed to the competing bands three months prior to the contest by tho South Island Association.
