A tribute to the late Mr Arnold White, the well-known author, who died reoently in England, was paid at the annual meeting of the Wellington branch of the Navy League. Mr R. D j). McLean, said that the lato Mr Wliite, whose chief interest was the Navy, was the "•reatest friend ■ the League had ever had He was very highly thought of in the Mother Country, and was held in great esteem by the late Admiral Lord Fisher. Lord Fisher, as a matter of fart, had such a regard for Mr White #iat on one occasion _he took him for a trip to the South or France. School children knew about Mr White, and most people had 'read his books. He was indeed a friend of the League.
