Mr Austen Chamberlain, in the House of Commons, voiced Britain's suspicions of Busaia in connexion with the Chinese disturbances. Santa Barbara Earthquake. The. recent earthquake at Santa Barbara followed the track of a disturbance which did great damage in 1812. Tennis at Wimbledon. The Australian, J. O. Anderson, was ' pUtgeneralled by Lacoste, the French tennis player, at Wimbledon. Lasting Peace. In a speech at Cambridge (Mass.), Mr Cootidgo gave an indication of his views on America's responsibilities in regard to peace covenants between the nations of the world.
