DOG TRIALS.
ASHBURTON CLUB. The Asbburton Coliio Dog Club's third annual trials were concluded yesterday under much more favourable weather condition? j than those which reigned on the first day. J Clashes 2 and 3 were decided, with the foli lowing results: — * ! CLASS IT.—lluntaway and Slew, five sheep, about 300 yards; time limit, g minutes. C—2B .. 4 Fisg went through the first and second 1 flags in fine style, and completed his course ; well. He showed good force, hut he was ', a trifle harsh. His time was .irnin 40sci\ lias went off his line a little to the third ' dag, and went through a hit too close to : the right-hand pole. He went through the 1 second polo on the third line. Tile do:: was rat Iter close at his turns. His tiuie Was Umin 3 3scc. Tweed went through the first tin; too close io the left pole, and missed the last pole. He was rash on the turns, but followed up well. Time was called before he completed the course. Glcu went through the first flag, was rash nn the turns, and ran his sheep over to the right. He made, a rash turn and missed the last polo. Time was called before he completed. GLASS lll.—7leading, rulling to King Drive and Yard, three sheep, about 300 yards: time limit. lOmin. Johnstone's Bess 2S; (.'. Johnstone's Sweet, 28; ,)'. Andemon's Hemp, 27; R. Martin's Lassie, 25; .T. N. McGowan's Wee. Macgrcgor, 24; J. K. Forrester's Jack, 21: J. H. Patterson's Tim, SI; R. Davies's Tim, 21; P. Duff's Toss, 19; K. Davies's Fame, 1(3; W. Brunton's lioss. 15. King made an excellent, head and steadied back into the ring on a straight line. Kis drive was good, and he penned very nicely at his first, attempt in 4min SOsec. Toss headed on a- good lino and stopped at the head of the sheep. He then pulled steadily, but leaped to left slightly at the ring and entered after good work. His drive was good, and he showed firm style. His time was 6miu 30sec. Help Junior went out rather wide and lifted too fast, but ho then steadied and pulled quietly. He made a. straight drive ; and 0 good pen in 7mfn SOstcc. i Although he went out well, Help earns in on his cast and headed well. His sheep canto back on a good line, but he pushed them too fast and slightly to the left and straight into the ring. He held well and went straight to the pen, doing the job in Gmin lOsoc, Moss went out on a good line, 1 hut overran the head. After steadying he let the sheep off the lino during tho pull. The dorr was not well placed at the start of thdrive, and he did not make a good line ttho pen. He penned quickly in 7min 17sec, but showed a. jerky style.
