POULTRY SHOW.
NORTH CANTERBURY SOCIETY. The annual Show of the sorth Canterbury Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Club was opened in the Drill Hal!, Rangiora, yesterday. Although the entries were not up to those of last year, the exhibits were of a very liigh. standard, especially in the poultry classes. Besides the large number of special prize 3 offered, the South Island Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Association allotted eeveral championships, which were keenly competed for. The Rangiora High School, as in former years, made a very fine display of roots, seeds, and grain. The wintry weather and high state o? the rivers interfered with the coming forward of a number of entries. The attendance was very poor. The secretarial duties were very satisfactorily carried out by Mr W; T. "Wilson, with the assistance of the president, Mr T. S. Hanna. The South Island championship .for English White Leghorns was won by R. L. Procter with a -very £ne hen bird. The AsEOciation'B championship for the Utilij.v. Barred Plymouth Rock went to G-. H. Lou"l)j<roi; with a very fine cock bird, and in tbft open bantam utility class the championship was won by H. F. Rollinson with a fine cockerel. The club's special prize for the best bird- in the Show went to Mrs J. Moffctt with a Black Pckin hen. Tile South Island -Poultry and Pigeon Association also offered four championships for the pigeon, classes. These -were won as follows:—Xuns, Bradford and Courtney; Tumblers, black co?k, 0. H. Bradford; yellow, C. P. Bradford: Working Homer (hen), 1324-5 ring, T. Hasel. The . Show will be continued to-day, when tho cats will be judged. The following is the prize list: FOULTRY.
