Golf. Owing to the heavy roln, there -will bo no golf at Charteris Bay this week-end, Rainfall. Mr S, W. Gower reports that the rainfall for June wag 2.78 inches, compared with 8.0625 inches in 1924, and 1.1128 inches In 1023: Bain fell on 17 days during the month, as against nine and eleven days rospsctlvely for the previous two years. The maximum fall of .485 inches was recorded for 24 hours ending noon Tuesday, Juno 80th, 1925. The average daily fall was .01)3 inches, end the average fall was .188 inches. The total rainfall for 1025 to date Is 12.6878 inches, with 51 wet days, as against 8,7(923 inches and 54 wet days, and 11,53 inched and 56 wet days for corresponding periods in 1924 and 1023 respectively. Up to noon yesterday a further 1,82 inches had fallen. Harbour Light Theatre. "The Wanderer of the AVasteland," from Zane Grey's novel, and filmed in natural colours, and a Universal-Jewel production, "The Mad Whirl," starring May McAvoy, will be repeated at the Harbour Light Theatre to-night. To-morrow, "As Man Desires," a First National drama, starring Milton Sills, will be screened, together with a comedy, gaxette, and scenic. •At the evening session Mr R. Allison, Competition gold medallist,) will sing.. The Butterflelds, Hawaiian ukelele and steel guitar p!ayer3, will appear. Methodist Church.
The monthly meeting of the Women's Own was held yesterday afternoon in the Methodist Hall, when an official visit was paid by the Mothers' Union of Holy Trinity Church, under the presidency of Mrs A. J. Petrie. About GO ladies wero present. After the opening hymn, Mrs Bailey, president of the Women fa Own, very heartily welcomed Mrs Petrie and the members of tho Holy Trinity Mothers'' Union. A very instructive and thoughtful address was delivered by Mrs Petrie, who took as her subject "i'our Bible Mothers." A bright and helpful discussion followed, at which Mrs Bailey spoke on the influence of good mothers. Afternoon tea was provided by the Methodist ladies, and great pleasure was expressed at having the Holy Trinity mothers present, and lo Mrs Petrie for her excellent address. Mrs Bailey announced before the gathering dispersed that the Rev. L. B. Neale, who was coming to conduct the Evangelistic Mission services in Lytte.l- - Methodist Church, would address the Women's Own early in August.
