Among the guests at 'Warners Hotel r.re Messrs R. Macdonald (Waikuku) and D. Allen (Wellington). 'v Yesterday Mr H. Williams, formerly manager pf the Opera House, O&niaru, took over his duties as manager of Liberty Theatre. Constable H. J. Mulholland, of the Christchurch Police Force, has been, transferred to Dunedin, and leaves for the south this morning. Recent arrivals at tho Clarendon, Hotel include Messrs S. P. Smith (Wellington) and H. Brown (Mount Thomas), Rev. Mr Acheson (Cust), and I>r. King (Tiniaru). Tho visit to Christchurch of the president of the Amalgamated Society ofi Railway Servants, Mr 11. Hampton, has been cancelled. Mr Hampton was to have delivered an address to local members during tho week-end. At yesterday's meeting of the "Waimakariri River Trust, a vote of sympathy was passed with tho relatives of the late Mr N. K. Bowden ? an exchairman of the South Waimakariri River Board. Messrs W. G. McLeod (Te Aroha), F. Hondell (Auckland), R. A.. Loot and P. Streeter (Wellington), R. A. Clements (Loudon), and J. R. CampheU (Dunedin) are staying at the United Service Hotel. Mr L. R. Gihnour, recently a partner'of the Wellington firm of Messrs Keeping and Gihnour, solicitors, has been appointed to the staff of thejfuulic Trust Office, Wellington. The Rev. Argyll Sasby, pastor of the Tennyson street Congregational Church, has accepted a call to the Johnson Memorial Church, Fre.maatle, and is expected to take up his duties early in September. Mr A. C. Webb, organist of St. Mark's, Remuera (Auckland), has received the appointment of organist and music roaster at the Wanganui Collegiate School, during the absence of Mr Taylor in England. Mr George V. Vincent. F.T.0.L., who has been chosen by the Board of Trinitv College of Music as the examiner for tho College for tho South Island this year, in practical subjects*— pianoforte, organ, violin, singing, elocution, etc.—is expected to arrive in » Wellington on July 9th. He will proceed to Nelson, Blenheim, and Kaikoura, and from the latter place he will como on to Christchurch. Jt is not expected that Mr Vincent will 6pend any timo in Christchurch until he returns from the West Coast, where he will stay for the rest of this month. Ho will visit Christchurch after leaving the Coast. cud will spend the wholo of August here.
