SUNDAY SCHOOL EXTENSION.
CORRESPONDENCE LESSONS FOR CHILDREN. (special to "the peess.") AUCKLAND, July 1. A scheme to supply Sunday School instruction by correspondence to children in iback-blocks districts is to be inaugurated by the Sunday School Board of the Auckland Anglican Diocese. The chairman of the Board, theHev. Edward Lush, refers to the i project in the coiinse of a short article in the "Church Gazette." He says that it is realised there are many children in country districts who cannot be reached by Sunday Schools, and who are now doing their day school work by correspondence. To ■reach these, and perhaps a much larger number of children who go to day school, but have no Sunday School available, the Board has issued a cir- • cular to the clergy interested, and has already received enough replies to justify immediate .action beino; taken." '•The whole scheme will no doubt need a little experience before it is in thorough working," says Mr Lush, "but the Board will issue soon weekly papers of lesson notes, chiefly questions on Bible nassages, which can be answered by a "little attention to the text of the Bible, and with a few details to make things clear. Thus it is hoped'that many children will be brought into better knowledge of what concerns their soul's health, and also feel that they are one in fellowship with the Church to which they belong. The Board would be thankful to receive names and full postal addresses of any children desiring to take part in this. It will involve a little supervision by parents, no doubt, and the possession of a Bible, a Book of Common Prayer, and a 'Hymns Ancient and Modern.' On© letter a fortnight or month sent backwards and forwards will probably suffice."
