Kawhaki, the promising three-year-old trotter, died soon after arriving at his new home in- Auckland. It is believed that heart trouble was the cause of death. He won the New Zealand Trotting Stakes at Forbury this season, and only recently an offer of £ISOO was refused for him.

The Lucullus •filly Nancy Lee, who is now trained at Opotiki, will be amongst the starters on the second and third clays at Trentham. He is now out of danger, but will not be able to ride for several weeks, possibly months. Bullock was badly shaken, but wae not seriously hurt. A later message said that "Donoghue's left shoulder was fractured.

[The Grand Prix de Paris is one of the most valuable races in the world, and the roll of honour discloses a distinctly international element. English, American, Belgian, and Russian sportsmen have at different times provided the winner, but this year the result is purely French. The placefillers are all home-bred; The winner, Reino Lumiere, only raced once last season, and finished second to Coram, the, victims of the accident mentioned in the above cablegram. The name Edmond-Blanc figuring in /conjunction with the second horse recalls that famous French sportsman, M. Edmond-Blanc, vho won his first Grand Prix de Paris in 1879 with Nubienne, and later owned six other winners of the race. It was M. Edmond-Blanc who bought Flying Fox at auction-when a four-year-old for £39,375. With Flying Fox he bred Ajax, snd won the Grand Prix in 1904. Terre Kieuvien won once at Saint Cloud as a two-year-old, and was placed twice in his other four starts. His sire, As d'Atout, won the Grand Prix in 1911. Dark Diamond was the best performed horse as a two-year-old of the three mentioned fh connexion with last Sunday's race, winning twice in three starts —the Prix dfe l'Aqueduo and the Prix d'Ermenonville at Paris—and in his other outing finishing second in the Prix de la Baltique at Haisons Laffitte.] AUSTRALIAN RACING.
