BASEBALL.
VISIT OF AMERICAN FLEHT. The Canterbury Baseball Association held an . executive ' meeting last evening. Present—Messrs W. 'Heslckr.rst (chairman),' S. Johns, L. li. Brunt-en, L. A. Hayiies, D. Evans, and G. Garbutt. The following suggestions were made and adopted in connexion With the visit 'of the x\merican Fleet, subject to approval by the llntortainmcnt Committees throughout 'New Zealand. ' That a New Zealand t-cam should be selected from Canterbury and Wellington to play three test matches, in Auckland, Wellington', ard Canterbury respectively. That New Zealand ■ should play tho'Fleet at Wellington on Thursday, August 13th. leaving for Auckland the same night and playing there against the Fleet ou Saturday, 'August 15th: leaving Auckland the following day for Christchurnh, playirg thrrc against the Fleet ori Wednesday, August 13th. That a. match br arranged Canterbury versus the Fleet on Thursday, August 20th, at Chrislcliuvch. The executive had before it a programme bi the various entertainments available to I membei'3 of the Fleet, including, of course, I the race meetings, and the above itinerary was worlied out- so as not to clash with other engagements. ; The following members have beon selected to practise:—W. Wilkinson (captain), S. Johns, L. R. Brunton, D. Evans, L. A. llaynes. G. Garbntf, J. O'Cain, L. Gosncy, .7. Martin, W. Brown. L. Gi-ose, C. Haves. S. Gregory C. Lowers. W. D. Mitten.' L. Hnbden, J. Forsyth,. W. Cole, W. Bsll;in, and S. Jobbeniß. The Canterbury team and a touring team will be fclected as the result of practice matches during the ncxt'.fivc playing Saturdays, from the above players.
