PROHIBITION AND POLITICS.
TO THE EDITOR OP "THE rXESS."
. Sir.—"l would not like..to say the gentleman: lied, but if lie wrote a work of fiction it would sell." . Tho resolution passed by tho .Prohibition Party:: That we endeavour to pledge-our'own voters that, in voting for Parliamentary candidates they will put Prohibition- before party—can only mean that, they wish', to members in tho House pledged to support Prohibition: and in spite of Mr Williams's denial I hold, to any opinion that this is the first step towards forcing a '•measure"'through Parliament, : if ' they should fail in the. referendum. It will be-too late, to cry over spilt, milk, when the damage is done, and those who care for the true principles-of "Democracy should see to it that this move is defeated at the coming election. —Yours, etc.,
