CONFIDENCE TRICKSTERS.
VISITOR TO LONDON ROBBED. (BY CABLE—TRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND X.Z. CABLE ASSOCUTIOX.) (Received June 29th, 7.20 p.m.) LONDON, June 25). British detectives arc searching for four -well-dressed confidence tricksters, who robbed an overseas visitor of £ISOO in Bank of England notes. They met the visitor in a London hotel and casually mentioned that they had important and oxclusive racing information -which the .visitor could share. As no money was asked for, the-visitor accepted the offer and bets -were made by telephone. The visitor later was told that he had won £3OCO. Ho was delighted, but was asked to show that he had sufficient funds to pav for the bets if they should have been lost, whereupon ho handed aver to the men £ISOO. They departed to collect the £3OOO, making an appointment to meet tlio overseas visitor m P'iris Ho went and waited in vain, and then informed the police.
