CANTERBURY COLLEGE.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS. The Beard of Governors of Canterbury College met yesterday. Present: Mr H. D. Acland (chairman), Miss E. A. Chaplin, Mrs W. H. Clark, Dr. A. J. Orchard, Dr. J. Right, Dr. C. H. Chilton, and Messrs G-. T. "Weston, Vf. Brock, W. A. Banks, L. B. Wood, C. T. Aschrnan. High Schools Committee. The report of the High Schools and Hostels Committee which was adopted, stated that the committee had decided that, owing to the increased number of pupils at the Girls' High School, an additional D grade assistant was to be advertised 'for. Museum and Library Committee. The Museum and Library Committee recommended that a letter of thanks be sent to Mr H. Carse of Auckland, who had presented hia Herbarium to the museum.. This Herbarium was thoroughly representative of the New Zealand Flora, consisting of some iSOO specimens, arid was a most valuable and acceptable gift. The l committee reported that the iiduoation Department had authorised the payment of salaries to part-time teachers employed permanently at the School <>f Art, for the ■period during which the school was closed owing to the recent epidemic. The report was adopted. College Committee. The College Committee recommended: (1) That a letter of thanks be sent to Emeritus Professor W. P. Evans for his valuable and generous gift to the Chemistry Department of a set of the journal of the Society of Chemical Industry. (2) That Messrs P. Graham and Son's tender be accepted for the erection of a batte-ry bouse for the School of Engineering. (3) That Mr H. Bclshaw having been appointed lecturer in economics at the University of Tasmania, his resignation of the position of W.E.A. tutorial class lecturer in South Canterbury be accepted. (4) That, in accordance with a recommendation received from the Tutorial Class Committee of the Workers' Educational Association, the following be appointed lecturers to tho Kaiapoi class: Messrs J. E. Strachan (Rangiora High School). Mr C. E. Besby (Canterbury Collet), Mr S. Page, M.A., B.Sc, Mr A. J. Ferguson (Rangiora High School). (5) That Mr "W E. Thomson be appointed ]umor assistant at the College library for Hie remainder of the session, nee Mr L. b. Tithoridge, who had been obliged through ill-health, to resign. The report was adopted.
