The steady southerly rai a which fell yesterday prevented any work being done on the waterfront. The Wairau completes loading to-day for Blenheim. The Itina is expected to sail to-day for Dunedin and (Timaru. Tit's Breeze is to sail this afternoon with general cargo for Wellington, Picton and \Vanganui. The Cygnet was expected back last night from Ka,ikoura, and is to sail to-night with cargo for Kaikoura, Nelson, and Motueka. The Waikouaiti is to bo despatched tomorrow for Timaru to complete loading for Sydney. The Storm is due to-morrow from Timaru. to load for Wellington and Wanganui. The Wingatui should be here to-day from tlip south to load for Auckland. She sails ■via. Wellington. The Holandale is to load to-morrow for Wellington and Wanganui. Tho Orepuki, due from Timaru to-morrow, loads for Nelson, Westport, and Greymcuth. The Kamo is expected on Saturday from Gisbome with sheep. Sho is to sail the same day for Dunedin. The Karetu is to sail to-morrow for Dunedin, Bluff and Melbourne. Tho Federal liner Hertford, at present at Gisbome, is to leave there to-day for Auckland to take in final cargo She is expected to clear Auckland on Saturday next for West Coast ports of Great Britain. Tho Shaw Savill liner Pakeha, now loading at Timaru, is to leave thero to-day for Lyttelton and Bluff to complete her cargo. Sho is expected to sail finally from Bluff on July Wh for London, via Monte Video and Tcneriffe. According to a wireless message received by the Shaw Savill Company frcru the lonic, en route from London and Southampton, the vessel expects to arrive in tho stream at Wellington at midnight to-night. She will remain at the anchorage for the night, and will ber.Th to-morrow mcrning to disembark her passengers and land part cargo. The Jonio will later proceed to Port Chalmers to eompleto discharge. The A. and A. Lino steamer Paparoa arrived at Wellington early on Saturday morning from Auckland to put out a further quantity of her New York cargo. She is to leave Wellington to-morrow for Lytlelton, Dunedin, and Australia to complete discharge. An arrival at Auckland on Friday evening was tho Shaw Savill liner Matatua with cargo frctn Liverpool. The vessel wil! put out part cargo at Auckland, and will then proceed to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin to discharge the remainder. She is due at Wellington about Saturday next.

ROYAL MAIL STEAMERS. The Acrangi arrived at Sydney at 0 a.m. on Friday Auckland, and leaves on the return voyage to Vancouver on July 2nd, via Auckland. She is due at Auckland on July 6th, and sails on July 7th for the Canadian port. The Niagara was duo at Vancouver on Friday, and leaves on the return voyage on July Ist. She is due at Auckland on July 3Jth, and leaves on the 21st for Sydney. The Tahiti left San Francisco on June 17th. bile was to leave Papeete on Saturday, Barotonga to-day; due at Wellington on July 6th; leaves for Sydney on July 7 th. The Makura left Wellington on June 23rd; was ic. leave Rarotonga. on Saturday, and Papeete yesterday; due at San Francisco on July 10th.

Lyttelton on the arrival of the 6.50 p.m.' steamer train; from Christchurch on those days, leaving Lyttelton about 7.30 p.m. On Mondays the vessel will wait for the arrival cf the Invercargill express, which leaves Christchurch at 7.18 Vp.rn. The tinie. of departure of the Maori, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, remains unaltered. STEAMER COLLIDES WITH LAUNCH. "While berthing at.her usual berth yesterday .afternoon," the small steamer John Anderson rammed the stern of -the motor launch Motarata, which was -berthed ahead of tho John Andersen. Tho bow of tho steamer cut into tho stern of the launch and forced tho latter- under the, wharf,' where she suffered further damage. Tho Canterbury Steamship Company's steamer Galo. which sailed at 1 p.m. today for Wanfanui, encountered heavy •weather in Cook Strait. A very strong southerly was met with, and huge sens. As the seas were increasing, the captain was forced to put back, steering in by the hand goav. In attempting to put the steering gear into hand gear, Seaman D. She is to sail on Thursday with cfirgo for Lvttclton, Kelson, Westport and Grfymouth. The Kumara is due from Oamaru on Thursdav, for Homeward loading, under the auspices' of the N.M. and A. Company.
