CHAMPIONSHIP DOG TRIALS.
At Springfield, on Friday, in the champion-ship-dog trials, Class 2, huntaway with slew, was concluded. The work was of a much higher standard than that of the first day. When.the judge gave his decision there were • only three points between the first four dogs. The result was:— - A. Salt's Boy, C 7 ... ..1 G. Keefe's Bob, UG ... .. . 2 A. Aubrey's Tweed, 35 . . :i . X. Campbell's Roy, 34 ... 4 At the conclusion of the trials, Mr Starky thanked all helpers, and asked Mrs R. 31. Johnson to present the cups and trophies. Three cheers were given for Mrs Johnson and the judge, this bringing a very successful meeting to a close.. The cups were awarded as follows: Ghristchurch Collie Club's Cup, for most points in huutaw'ay, to be won twice, not necessarily in' succession—A. Salt. ■ The Montrose. Memorial Challonge Cup, heading event—J. Armstrong. , Peterson and Co.'s silver cup for heading event —J. Armstrong. - , Mrs F. A. Archer's silver cup for heading event —J. Armstrong. J. Ballantyne and Co.'s silver cup for huntaway class, to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals —A. Salt. Special priza of £1 Is, presented by Mr A. C- Morton for dog- pulling, in; best natural style—W. Carney.
