ANOTHER MONTH IN A YEAR.
"SOL"' BETWEEN JUNE AND JULY. yaoa oub ows coEjtEsrospjNT.) LONDON, May 20. British railway companies (it is said) have approved a proposal to divide the year into thirteen months instead of twelve. The scheme is being put forward by tho League of Nations. It would involvo a. fixed date for Easter,, and an extra day would have to be inserted in between the thirteen months to bring tho total of days in the year to 365. This extra day would be known as Year Day. Leap Year Day won Id also bo an additional day not included_in any of the mouths. Tt is called "Leap Day" in the League of Nations scheme. A new month, made by uniting the last.two weeks of June, with the first two weeks of Julv, would be known aa "Sol." Some advantages claimed for the system by the League are that pay days, markets, fairs, and other fixed meetings would recur on the same dates monthly; that each week day would come on its four fixed monthly dates; and that permanent <Tates for business or sporting fixtures could be made. ''Some time must elapse before this, reform can com© into foreo," said Sir Herbert Walker, of the Southern Railway. ''lt will simplify the railway calendar eonsiderably, and all railway men will welcome the change, as the movable feasts of Easter and Whitsuntide >ure most inconvenient at present." Another railway official mentioned that other nations have still to be canvassed, and even when agreement was reached the sthenic would have to ba ratified by the various Governments.
