CHRISTCHURCH HOUNDS. (Contribute'!.l The hcjnds met on the "..",rd in = t at Duntand*!. The morning broke mild, giving every indication o: a fine bnnti.r.s ilsv. which proved cirrert, cj £cent v.a- undoubtedly ?ood, although at times very 'a'rliy. The hounds were thrown off on Mr V.'alker's country. l>rawin; the first r.eii. a "View halloo" was heard, 2. hare was --een leaving the paddock at the far end. The. paek V.-113 laid oa to the lir.e when the bare had inne well away, every hound owning to it. and streaming away with a jrlorious burst ot music. After running for a mile, the hounde were checked wh».-n reaching a ploughed field. That rare hi ! ' h. Beeswing, has it! and aeain we go at top. Turning nzht-handed. the hare irt«de for the townfhlp, eventually taking the rack across the railway line close to the (station, the resident* being treated to an excellent burst of raiiMP, as the paek went through the township. Landing into the Domain, the hounds were cheeked. iilufeliffs -poke to it, and again we heard "Hark, fnrrard. away:" Running for some dl";cnce, they turn righthanded across Mr S. Lint's property, and on through the pehool grounds, much to the enjoyment e£ the fchoolboys. After pressing their quarry for >nme distance. the hounds lost the hare, which laid up in the ijorse. After a fhoi t fpell.'. (he paci: were taken back to .Mr. Walker's country, and, trying a young grasa paddock, a litre »m.- "Viewed away!" taking a line across Messrs Ballock, Johnson, and Allen's properties, giving the field a three-mile go across country, w;ith fences no horae could take liberties; with. Unfortunately, the hounds were again unable to kill, as the hare laid up in a plantation full of gorse. As horses and hounds were tired, the folloitera rode back to Duneandei, where they were the guests of Messrs Dawson and Buckingham, who provided ;;n excellent afternoon tea.
