Tides. It will be high tide on the beach today at 8.11 a.m. and in the river at 9.38 a.m., and to-morrow at 5..33 a.m. and 10.21 a.m. respectively. The Churches. The services at the Beach' Churches to-morrow will lje as follows:—HolvConimunion S a.m., Matins 11 a.m., and Evensong, 7 p.m., at "which the anthem, "The Heavens Are Telling" i (Iliiydn) will be given by the choir. Services at the Methodist Church tomorrow will be at 11 and 6.30 p.m., and at North Beach School at 6.30 p.m. (Mr F. Olds). At the morning service of the Presbyterian Church Mr O. A. Piggot, of Queensland, will jri \c the address. Jti the evening the liev. J. S. Young will preach on "Pact, Faith, and Assurance." Croquet Club. The Croquet f'iub held its euchre evening in the Parish lioiim on Wednesday. The first prizes were awarded to I Mrs Blunt and Miss Mazey, and the second prizes to Miss Gamble and Mr Cooke. The consolation prizes went to Mrs Nicholls and Mr Winter. The prizes for the first aggregate -were won by Mrs ltagg and Mr Blunt. School Caretaker. For the position of caretaker of the Main .School there were thirty applicants. The Committer have decided to appoint. Mr Hill, of Lonsdale street, to the position. Bowling. The annual general meeting of the Xcw Brighton Bowling Club was held in the Pavilion on "Wednesday, Mr F. E. Barrett being in the chair. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election -of officers resutlcd as follows:—Patron, Mr A. W. Owles; president, Mr .1. A. Cooke; vice-presi-dents, Messrs J. 11. Shaw and W. Dean; delegate to local Sports Association, Mr F. Muirson; committee, Messrs P. Muirson, L. Besley, G. Lawrence, J. E. Speddiiyjc and M. Pattriek; green umpire, Mr G. Lawrence; match committee, Messrs J. A. Cooke, G. W. Bishop, L. Lawrence and P. Muirson; house committee, Messrs It. A. Stokes, C. Evans and .7. E. Spedding ; entertainment committee, Messrs W. A. Drake, A. E. Purse and W. Dean; sole selector, Mr P. Muirson; lion, solicitor, Mr T. Williams; lion treasurer, Mr W. L. A. Taylor; auditor, Mr L. W. Hudson; secretary Mr G. W. Bishop. The retiring president, Mr Barrett, referred to the creditable manner in which the green had been kept throughout the season, which reflected great credit on. those responsible. He congratulated Mr Cooke upon his election to the office of president, and also referred to the welcome donations towards the ground expenses made by Messrs Owles, Jacobsen, Spedding, and Muirson. It was decided to recommend the Centre to retain the system of competitions obtaining last year, clubs to enter teams in accordance with their membership. On the motion of Mr K. A. Stokes it was Tesolved that the following be added to Eule IV: "That each nomination paper be accompanied by one guinea of the first year's subscription." Mr Purse moved, and it .was carried, that it be -a recommendation to the incoming committee that some plan of campaign should be considered with a view to an increase of membership.

Whist Club. The "Happy Hours" Whist Club hold a Very enjoyable evening on Thursday. The result of the night's pluv resulted in prizes being awarded to Mrs Weir and Mr. Ticrney, the consolation prizes going to Mrs Greenhaugh' and Mr Kershaw. The- aggregate prizes, were won by Mrs Jj'oote and Mr Adams. . Reserve 1616. During their visit to Wellington this week the Mavor (Mr J. Gamble) and Cr. J. H. Shaw took advantage of the occasion to inteview Ministers and M.P.'s in regard to the Council's pro-posed-subdivision of the waste land lying to the east of the Eawhiti Domain, between Lonsdalo street and Bowhill road, and known as Eeserve 1616. It is understood that the borough's representatives were given a most attentive hearing, and a promise was made that the matter would be given every consideration. Catholic Club. The Catholic Club held a very enjoyable social under the management 'of'Mr B. McKenna. The music for the dances was supplied by Large's Dance Orchestra.
