AUCKLAND AND BUS COMPETITION.
■♦ AMENDING THE BY-LAW. (PBESS ASSOCIATION' TELEGBAM.) AUCKLAND, June 26. The City Council has been advised by its solicitor that it can amend its by-law in conformity with Mr Justice Reed's judgment, or go to the Court of Appeal.. It has been resolved that steps shall be, immediately taken by the finance and legal committee to amend the bylaw in accordance with the judgment, .except that omnibuses shall still be excluded from Queen street on Friday j and other late shopping nights, Christ- ' mas Ere, New Year's Eve, the evening before Good Friday, election night, and such other occasions when, in the Council's opinion, congestion is likely j to arise. Mr Justice Reed' expressed the opinI ion that tbe 'buses should be allowed i to nlv in Queen street after 6.30 p.m. '• and on Sundays and holidays, whenordinary commercial traffic was not using the streets.
