Bingham/ and D *■ The Finance Committee, reported that ,it. had considered the letter from the iHunle Pipe Company with reference to the, contract for supply of pipes and r> reeoinmended the Board to accept and "pay;in full for all pipes ready for.delivery, under the provisions, of contract 'JB," and refund the deposit thereon, ,on thei following conditions: (1) Pipes to .b'e approved by the engineer; (2) delivery to be taken at the company's premises at Hornby; (3) the company to pay.cpst of cartage as provided for in the contract when the Board is ready to take delivery, on its works; and - (4) no storage to. be charged by the com'•pany, or the owners of the land, on -which ,the pipes are stored, during'the currency of the company's present lease (approximately four years). The report was adopted. •The Works Committee reported that •12} miles of;main, sewer, under the loan works,-nave been completed, or are in course of. construction, leaving three miles for which tenders have not yet been 'called. \ Tenders for pumping stations 'Nos. 8 'and 20 would •be re-. turnable at the ordinary meeting of the Board on July 21st. It was recommended that tenders be called for tho necessary machinery for pumping stations Nos. 6, 7, and 24 as early as possible. It was also recommended that tie engineer be instructed to proceed with the survey for the new paddocks at the sewage farm and additional septic tank accommodation. The committee reported having made certain alterations to the specifications for drain clearing contracts, which were set out. , The report was adopted. The Board went into committee to consider tenders. On resuming, it was reported that tenders of the following had been accepted:—Clearing drains: No.l, Greater Ghristchurch City, John Marshall; No. 2, Avon East, J. Higtam; No. 3, Avon middle, S. Cox; No. 4, Avon West, 0* Hnssey; No. 5, Heathcote, Spreydoh, and Woolston, W. G. White; No. 6, Eiccaiton, Brothers.
