SPORTS SHIELD PRESENTED, At a meeting of representatives of sport* bodies (o consider the offer of the JtXftK of Kaiapoi (Mr H. Mcintosh) and the Majar of Tlargiora (Mr If. Mcintosh) :o pro»H« a shield for inter-borough competition, w*» held at. Kaiapoi last night. The Mayor, who presided, explained that 4 the s!i»d was to encoura;e a friendly spirit between the borough*. On the motion of Dr. M. Ramsar. sec«a4»fc by Mr J. r. Monk, it was decided to accept the shield, and. a vote of appreciation **• accorded the donor?. It was decided that all the sports bodies represented should form themselves into a committee to control the shield, and thai one r.presen'r.tivo from each club tank* be appointed to the General Comaittee. The following committee wis appointed: Cricket, Mr M. F. ODoaojhue; tenuis. Mr A. Hirst: bowlinj. Dr. M. ftmuay: i*a brigade, Mr K. Mallasch; ri3e shooting Mr W. J. Heney; golf. Mr L. B. Evans; billiards, Mr J. K. Mont; rifle shooting Mr H. C. Trustrum; football, Mr T. A. Mtrland: ladies' hockey, Mr H. lieaiunway: men's hoikev, Mr <;. Hammer: Assosiatli» football, Mr J. Hirst; Sports Club. Mr JL Grimwood. The committee will meet th» Baaf«e»» representatives at Kangiora on Jul? 4th, and discuss the rules for the ce-raretitior>. The mtrctins recommended tbst the *C** tests should be between member? of chiai> and should not be confined to residents to the boroughs. _ It was decided that the rules as ssbniistaa be referred to the Genera!
