FIRES.

A motor-car, owned by Mr J". PI Dent, of 83 May's road/caught on fire in Caaliel street yesterday morning while it was being started. The flameswere put out with a fire, extinguisher before any great damage had been done. The school at Te Koto, Chatham Islands, was burnt down on Wednesday night. It was built 5n 1020 by the Canterbury Education Board at k cost of about £6OO, and it was used bv fifteen children. The teacher is Mr J. S. Barwell.
