MEETING OP ASSOCIATION. Tho "Wbolston Burgesses' Association mot last night, Mr C. Hill presiding. la reply to tho request that a sufficient sum be placed on this year's estimates to lay a tar surface on Ferry road, from Bamfoxd etreet to St. Peter's Church, tho Town Cork wrote stating that the matter would bo considered by the Works Committee. The committee bad even gone a little further into the matter, inasmuch as the City Engineer had been asked to prepare an estimate for tho work. With l regard to the suggestion by the Association that a footbridge bo erected over the He&thcoto river at tho foot of Barton street, .the Town Ckrk wrote stating
that tho Works Commrtioc had given tho matter careful consideration, but, could not eeo its way clear to make a recommendation to tho Council. Replying to a for more li<_'lit'ng, tho general manager of the Municipal Electricity Department wroto stating that a reconstruction of the lighting in Wools ten had boen authorised, including a number of additional lamps. As soon as material was secured, thj work would bo put in hand. Notico was received from the Town Clerk that tho City Engineer would give attontion to the complaint legardins water lying in the centre of the footpath in St. John street. It was 6tatcd that the trouble had no*; yet been remedied, and it was decided to write to the City Council again on the matter. Consequent on members' complaints, it was decided to write to the City Motor Inspector asking that efforts be made to check speeding on tho Ferry road, WooUtcn. Being of opinion that the present building is out of date, ; t was decided to wait on the school committee suggesting that efforts should be made to secure a> new school.
